The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.
Wilber Gaston – First Principles of Astrology 1928
£65.00
Description
hb/dj | Gaston, Wilber | First Principles of Astrology | 1st UK | Rider & Co., Paternoster House, E.C.4, London | n.d. | £65 | British Library records give 1928 for this edition, which is always undated in print. It followed the original US edition of 1927 | Original full brown cloth in vgc+ condition, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine and only very light rubbing to tips of outer corners. In good+ original dj, which has separation to top and bottom cm (approx.) of front spine hinge, a few mm separation only to extremities of rear spine hinge, tiny 3mm hole towards top of spine, a few short tears to top edges of covers, with light creasing to their upper margins, and an old unmarked label towards foot of spine, slightly peeling off at its outer edges; faint plain-pencilled number to upper margin of front panel. Light foxing to page-edges and outer margins of some preliminary and late pages. Internally, old handwritten black-inked note to upper margin of half-title page, beneath a repeat of the plain-pencilled number encountered earlier; and a faint old red Chinese ownership stamp. Beyond half-title page, no markings found. Overall, an excellent copy of the collectible Rider edition, in a decent (for its age) dust jacket that rarely survives at all on any early edition |
