The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

W. J. Tucker – Predicting from the Stars 1960, Copy 3

£50.00

Description

hb Tucker, W. J. Predicting from the Stars 1st Pythagorean Publications 1960 £50   Original large-format full red cloth in near-fine condition, non-adhesively wrapped in clear plastic sleeve, which itself is slightly stained, but can easily be peeled off and discarded if not wanted. Binding remains strong throughout. Early owner’s large, florid inked signature to front paste-down. Vintage address sticker of First Temple and College of Astrology, Los Angeles, California, to ffep. Plain-pencilled prices to upper outer corner of half-title page. Slight trace of ink-staining towards upper outer corner of Contents page. Slight creasing to upper outer corners. A previous owner has helpfully written over the faintly printed planetary glyphs in the Hours of the Day table to p. 45 in blue ink, with the correct glyphs, to make them stand out more clearly (comparison with another copy reveals how faint the original print was in many cases), and has done the same again with the faintly printed glyphs in the middle of p. 60 and a few on p. 73, and with the sign glyphs in the small table on p. 103; but no other internal markings found. In the index, the leaf that should comprise pp. 279-280 has been printed in the wrong order, so that p. 280 appears first and is followed by p. 279, but the content is all there. Overall, a near-excellent copy of the first edition.
