The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.
W. J. Tucker – Forecasting World Events 1960
£125.00
Description
hb | Tucker, Wm. J. | Forecasting World Events | 1st | Pythagorean Publications | 1960 | £125 | First printing, October 1960. [ix] + 61 + [pp. 64-349]. The error is in the pagination. In all copies of this book I have seen, page 61 is backed with page 64, and the text is continuous expect for the repetition of the word ‘was’. | Original large-format full red cloth in near-fine condition for age; gilt titling to front board very slightly rubbed in places, but mostly bright; to spine it is still bright. Ffep with trace of scuffing to upper inner corner from removal of an old label. Half-title page with Australian bookshop stamp and separate smaller Australian stamp to lower margin. Former owner’s plain-pencilled annotations to lower margin of p. 7, and plain-pencilled suggestion of word substitution to p. 22; scholarly plain-pencilled annotations to figure for Queen Elizabeth II on p. 47; further plain-pencilled annotations to chart for U.S.A. on p. 65, and (briefly) to chart for Israel on p. 132; small plain-pencilled marginal annotation to paragraph about the M.C. on p. 222; year corrected in plain pencil to p. 226; plain-pencilled annotations to aspectarian for 1970 to p. 335; no other pencilled markings found although similar minor ones I’ve missed possible. Small accidental black ink mark to upper margin of p. 344, but no deliberate permanent previous owner markings or other faults found. A very good copy of a rare mundane astrology reference book, this copy with added interest from the studious annotations to a few of the national charts. |
