The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

£135.00
Description
hb | Collingwood, W. Gershom, M.A. | Astrology in the Apocalypse: an Essay on Biblical Allusions to Chaldaean Science | 1st | George Allen, Sunnyside, Orpington, Kent | 1886 | £135 | F. Leigh Gardner, in his Bibliotheca Astrologica (1911), reports that Collingwood’s book was already rare then because it had been withdrawn from sale shortly after publication | Original full cloth in good antiquarian condition for its age, with 1-inch split in cloth at top of rear spine hinge, a little wear to cloth from top of spine, wear to cloth towards tops of outer edges of boards, moderate wear to foot of spine, and a little light edge-wear elsewhere. Gilt titling to spine still bright. Boards are a little patchily discoloured and stained. Internally, early owner’s hand-inked signature to half-title page, dated 1890. Former owner’s pale green highlighting to occasional words on pp. 1, 4, 7, 11, 13, 16, 18-9, and 46, which has been factored into the price of this very rare book. No other faults found. |
