Original full green criss-cross-patterned cloth has wear to extremities of spine and outer corners of boards; brown cloth-tape has been glued down over spine and inner margins of boards, obscuring the initial ‘R’ from the series title to the upper inner margin of the front board. Scattered staining to boards; peripheral slight colour-fading to rear board. Gift inscription to notable theosophist and astrological writer Esmé Swainson to ffep, dated March 1931, together with plain-pencilled imperial price. Small stain to same part of pp. 40 and 41 crossing a couple of characters of text but without preventing the words from being easily read. Small reddish stain to upper margin of p. 78; carless ink pen mark to foot of p. 76, and few more tomargins of pp. 90-1. Overall, a fair copy of the rare first edition of the book, made more interesting and collectible by its history of ownership by Esmé Swainson.
