Spine reads ‘Lippincott’ but title page reads ‘Cecil Palmer’ | Original full red cloth in near-fine condition for age, trace of staining down inner margin of front board but otherwise clean and bright, with light rubbing to extremities of spine, and minimal rubbing to tips of outer corners of boards. Lower part of inner paper hinge before half-title page very slightly strained. Very faint traces of old pale yellowish highlighting to degree area ranges printed alongside each fixed star heading in book. It has faded so much that you have to look for it to even notice it is there as you cast your eyes over the page as a whole. Neatly black-inked marginal astrological sign glyphs added alongside names of constellations of the same names, and alongside like names of signs from p. 226-8; neat planetary glyphs added to margins of paragraphs about the planets from pp. 99-103. No underlining or other markings found. Crease across upper outer margin of leaf comprising pp. 77-78. Externally near-fine; internally good+; overall, a vgc+ copy of this early edition. |
