The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

£95.00

Description

hb Sepharial The Kabala of Numbers Part II: A Handbook of Interpretation 1st William Rider and Son, Limited, London 1913 £95 The rare true first edition of this sequel to ‘The Kabala of Numbers’ Original full blue patterned cloth in good- condition, with some fraying to cloth at top 3mm of spine, to top cm of front hinge, and to lower-central part of rear hinge, and wear to cloth over upper outer corner of front board. Cloth to front board and spine relatively sun-faded, with spine slightly browned; to rear board, blue colour is deeper. Gilt titling to spine still mostly strong and clear. Blind-stamped title and illustration to front board still clearly visible although definition of illustration not quite as sharp as when new. There is some evidence of past liquid-staining to the boards, which has slightly seeped into the upper margin of the front and rear paste-downs but has not reached the free endpapers or printed pages. Both front and rear inner paper hinges cracked, but webbing holding. If the buyer requests it, I’d be happy to strengthen these hinges with Tyvek professional hinge repair tape – please ask, although unless instructed to do this, I’ll leave the book in its current state. Copyright page with a few brief inked notes to margins: ‘O3 Sep’, ‘OLD’ and ‘1989’. Old mauve-inked marginal calculations to pp. 75 and 128. No other internal markings or significant faults found. Binding good-; pages near-vgc; overall, a good+ copy of the rare first edition. Price factors in faults.
