Complete in 240 pages + 16-page Rider book catalogue | Original full blue patterned cloth in vgc, with moderate wear to cloth at extremities of spine and upper outer corners of boards; cloth worn slightly more heavily from lower outer corners. This copy with both title and emblematic diagram to front board in gilt (the diagram is often found only blind-stamped), and titling to spine likewise. Vintage Australian bookseller address sticker to front paste-down. Old plain-pencilled bookseller notes to ffep (faint). Foxing to front end-papers and preliminaries, with occasional minor foxing elsewhere in book. Upper margin of title page with early owner’s signature, dated 8/6/17, in dark ink. ‘Hebraic system’ to p. 130 has been underlined in red ink, with a connected red-inked marginal bracket and arrow. Three lines of text underlined in black ink to p. 162, with associated black-inked marginal bracketing. No other permanent markings found. Occasional minor plain-pencilled mark-up to a handful of pages. Occasional corrected dog-ears. Binding slightly strained at inner paper hinges between pp. 112 and 113 and pp. 128 and 129. Overall, a near-very-good copy of this sought-after first edition |
