The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.
Sepharial – New Dictionary of Astrology, Rider Edition, 1921?
£45.00
Description
hb | Sepharial | New Dictionary of Astrology | Early | William Rider & Son, Ltd., 8-11, Paternoster Row, E.C., London | n.d. | £45 | Stated first published 1921, with no other date given. It is unclear whether this edition was published in the same year as the Foulsham one or slightly later, but in any case it is early, with the advertising all featuring books that were published no later than 1921 | Original criss-cross-patterned full red cloth with gilt titling to front board, in very good condition for its age, with moderate rubbing to cloth at foot of spine and lower outer corners of boards; light rubbing to top of spine and upper outer corners. Originally gilt titling to spine perished, but underlying stamped lettering still clear; gilt to front board still fairly strong and bright. Light cracking to rear inner paper hinge, but the internal binding is otherwise sound and strong for its age. Endpapers moderately toned, with some foxing to preliminary printed leaves. Early owner’s purple printed name and address stamp to front paste-down; later owner’s black-inked name and signature further up same. No other markings or faults found, with the printed pages being in generally excellent condition. A very good example of the scarce Rider imprint |
