The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.
Sepharial – Directional Astrology, early U.S. edition c. 1920s
£40.00
Description
hb | Sepharial | Directional Astrology | Early U.S. | David McKay Company, Washington Square, Philadelphia | n.d. | £40 | Likely to be the third David McKay printing, after the first of 1915 and second of 1921 | Original full blue cloth in vgc+ condition for age, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine and light rubbing to outer corners of boards. No noticeable fading of cloth, which remains deep blue. Gilt titling to spine unusually bright and strong for such an early edition. Dual blind-stamped bordering to both boards remains clear. Internally free from permanent markings. Plain-pencilled astrological annotation to margin of p. 81, and rather interesting, flowing plain-pencilled picture of a hand to lower margin of p. 85 – these could be erased if unwanted. Binding very slightly strained between pp. 96 and 97, but no significant internal faults found. An excellent copy of this early U.S. edition |
