Ltd., 29 Ludgate Hill, E.C.4, London [1955] £45 The original edition, undated in print, but recorded by deposit library records as having been published in 1955. The advertisement on the rear dj panel for Fowler’s Ephemeris from 1955 to 1959 inclusive corroborates this being the original edition of 1955 Original full blue cloth in near-fine condition, with minimal rubbing to extremities of spine and outer corners of boards; gilt titling to front board and spine intact although slightly faded. In good+ original green paper dj, which has light chipping to foot of spine, a short open tear to top of front hinge of spine, 1 cm closed tear to top of rear spine hinge, and mostly minimal chipping to extremities of flap-folds. Endpapers partly toned. Ffep with plain-pencilled bookseller notes. No other internal markings or faults found. Overall, an excellent copy of the first edition, in near-very-good dust jacket.
