Date from library records: book undated in print. After the original edition of 1914 Rebound long ago in deep red half-cloth, which is moderately rubbed to spine and heavily worn over outer corners of boards. Cloth joined to attractive marbled paper-covered boards in rose, grey and black colours; paper is lightly rubbed at edges of boards. The original silver titling to the spine has largely faded away, with legible traces remaining. Front paste-down scuffed to lower outer margin. Former owner’s signature and stamp, predating the rebinding, to upper margin of title page. Some fingerprint smudging to title page blank area. 3mm pin-prick hole to leaf comprising pp. 9-10. Neat white tape down inners margin of pp. 17 and 96, apparently used as hinge reinforcement at time of rebinding; far from text. Some plain-pencilled mark-up, e.g. marginal bracketing and underlining. Red-pencilled marginal bracket to p. 65. No other permanent markings or faults found. A near-very-good rebound copy. Rare
