The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

Gilt titling and flower picture to front board remain strong and bright. Top edge of page block gilt, as issued. Front and rear inner paper hinges slightly cracked, but underlying webbing strong. Ffep slightly chipped at upper outer corner only, and has plain-pencilled bookseller notes on its verso. Original owner’s inked signature, dated 1906, to upper margin of title page. Further pin-prick holes to blank upper margin of preface page, where another slip of paper was formerly attached. Early owner’s marginalia and occasional underlinings or rings around words throughout main text, and a few also to some pages of the ephemeris, mostly in plain-pencil, occasionally in dark ink, showing this to have been a keenly studied book. The annotations would make for an interesting study in themselves. Some page-edges slightly chipped, but contents complete. Overall, a good+ antiquarian original, whose early owner’s mark-up adds some historical interest to this rare book. Price factors in faults
