Nelson, Chicago, Ill. 1956 £35 1956 printing of a book first published in 1936 Original full yellow cloth with deep blue titling to front board and spine. In vgc+ condition, with light wear to extremities of spine hinges and tips of outer corners of boards. Internally, very slight partial cracking to front inner paper hinge, but it is mostly complete and strong. Front paste-down with former owner’s inked signature. Title page with former ‘House of Sagittarius Library’ stamp to lower margin and trace of paper residue alongside it. Red pencilled underlining to pp. 9, 17, 18, 22-28, 30, 32, 34, 43-4, 48, 52 and 54; word ‘FATE’ added in red pencil to margin of p. 17; a few words in red pencil to upper margin of p. 48, and marginal dashes to pp. 63-4. Some plain-pencilled underlining to a few other pages; and plain-pencilled former bookseller notes to rear paste-down noting ‘Not for sale – very rare – by wife of D. G. Nelson, owner of O.B.S. circa 1920-30’
