The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

Description

hb Merlin The Wizard, Containing the Only True English Fortune-Teller Whereby All Questions May Be Answered Respecting the Present and the Future Early W. Foulsham & Co., 5 Pilgrim Street, Ludgate Hill, London 1914 £95 Subtitle continues: ‘Also, a Simple and Easy Method of Telling Anyone’s Life and Disposition by the Signs of the Zodiac, Etc. Etc..’ This is an early impression after the very rare original of 1895 Original small-format deep green linen-like covers with black florally framed titling to front cover. In vgc+ condition for age, with almost no visible wear; slight crease across lower outer corner of rear cover (with minor traces visible to internal pages), and a couple of small, round ink stains to inside of rear cover leave slight traces to its outside and to rear fep; one of the two also leaves minimal traces to the last few leaves of text, but negligible and mostly confined to a small part of the outer margin. But for those two slight stains, this is a near-fine copy for its age. Ffep with plain-pencilled bookseller notes. Staples through inner margins (as issued) somewhat rusty, as usual for stapled books of this age. No previous owner markings or other faults found. Rare in such good condition
