Original full blue cloth in near-fine condition, with light rubbing to extremities of spine hinges. Gilt titling and symbols to spine still strong and bright. In vgc+ dj, with moderate rubbing to extremities of spine hinges, light rubbing to top of spine and extremities of flap-folds, and moderate colour-fading to spine. Book remains strongly bound throughout. Trace of inner marginal browning to some preliminaries. This copy signed by author to ffep, dated 6/29/76. Most pages free from previous owner markings, with just three exceptions: neatly ruled blue-inked underlining to pp. 75 and 94-95, with additional marginal aspect glyphs in blue ink to pp. 94-5. Still a highly desirable copy of the first edition on account of the author’s signature at the front.
