hb/dj Thorsten, Geraldine God Herself: the Feminine Roots of Astrology 1st Doubleday & Company, Inc. Garden City, New York 1980 £100 Stated first edition. The rare hardback original of a sought-after book Original black quarter cloth with gilt titling to spine, and blue paper-covered boards. Binding in near-fine condition, with light rubbing to lower outer corner of rear board, and minor traces of staining to small parts of front board. In good+ original dj, which has been carefully repaired and strengthened in several places with archival book-repair tissue on the inside, to close up tears and protect the dust jacket for the future. The outside of the dust jacket is slightly stained. Internally, the book remains strongly bound and is almost unmarked, with the exception of black-inked marginal brackets around the poem facing p. xvi, and around a quoted paragraph on p. 230 and one on p. 303 – clearly these quotations resonated strongly with the original owner of this copy. It is remotely possible that I might have failed to spot a similar bracket around another quotation elsewhere, though these were the only three I found. Otherwise a near-fine copy in good+ repaired dj.
