No other date, and no impression number, but not the first printing, which was marked ‘FIRST EDITION’ to the copyright page, unlike this copy. | Original turquoise cloth in vgc+ condition, with light rubbing to extremities of spine hinges and outer corners of boards; small patch of moderate wear adjacent to upper outer corner of rear board. Turquoise-gilt titling to front board and spine still strong and bright. In mylar-protected near-fine original dj, with very light rubbing to extremities of spine and along part of top edge of rear panel. Minor traces of finger smudging to closed top edge of page block if you look closely. Deep blue endpapers with minor bleaching to parts of outer edge of ffep and to parts of outer, upper and lower edges of recto side only of rear fep. Minimal creasing towards upper outer corners through to p. 154. Tiny patch of slight print smudging to small part of p. 239, not affecting legibility of the four affected words, but no internal markings or other faults found in the book. Overall, a vgc+ copy in near-fine dj of this very early impression, suitable for a discerning collector. |
