The only printing in hardcover, printed on large paper, a much bigger volume than the later paperback reprints | Original orange quarter-cloth with green paper-covered boards bearing author’s red-stamped emblematic initials to front board, as issued, and blue titling to find. Binding in fine condition. In near-fine original pictorial paper dj, which has light rubbing to top of spine and to foot of front flap-fold, tiny 3mm chip lost from very top of front flap-fold, and minor creasing to upper margins of front and rear panels; top edge of rear panel with tiny 3mm tear. Dj has been conserved in a mylar dust jacket to prevent further wear. Early owner’s inked date, 8/20/75, but no signature, to upper margin of ear paste-down. Ffep lightly creased and bears charming vintage Michigan bookseller’s pictorial purple flower stamp and separate address stamp printed in purple cursive handwriting-style font, and plain-pencilled bookseller notes. Corrected dog-ear to upper outer corner of leaf comprising pp. 303-4. Otherwise a fine copy, with no internal markings or other faults found to any printed page, and no visible weaknesses to binding either. For a 51-year-old book, it has been extremely well-conserved. This would make an excellent installation in a discerning collector’s library. |
