The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.
Cyril Fagan – The Symbolism of the Constellations 1962
£350.00
Description
coil-bound | Fagan, Cyril | The Symbolism of the Constellations | 1st | The Moray Press, Marylebone Road, London | 1962 | £350 | Moray Series No. 6. One of Fagan’s rarest and most sought-after books. [2] + 44 + [1 page of illustrations] + [pp. 45-122] + covers. Complete thus. | Original card covers in vgc for age, with moderate creasing across lower outer corner of front cover and small red-inked mark to upper inner corner of same; minor traces of staining to parts of covers. The metal coil remains complete and functional, with just the uppermost and one of the lowermost pairs of holes punched in the cards, out of 41 pairs in total, broken through. Internally, the text is mostly unmarked, and there is no underlining or highlighting. However, there are a few minor blue-inked marks comprising occasional short diagonal dashes before single words on a small number of pages, as though as a private reminder of where to find text of particular interest; brackets around the word ‘of’ to the end of one line on p. 27, and suggested amended page numbers to the upper margins of about 24 pages, all of which tend to be slightly before the actual page numbers, as though an alternative manuscript of the same text were being cross-referenced. Despite this minor mark-up, this is a very good surviving copy of an extremely rare text, of which almost no copies have been seen for sale in the past 20 years. Price reflects rarity and is designed to conserve the book until it finds its way to a sidereal astrology specialist or Cyril Fagan scholar who will duly appreciate it. |
