The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

£22.50
Description
hb | Carter, Charles E. O. | The Principles of Astrology, Theoretical and Applied | 3rd | The Theosophical Publishing House Ltd. | 1939 | £22.50 | [1 leaf] + [2] + [pp. 5-11] + [pp. 13-216] + [1 page of advertisements]. Third revised edition, printed in 2,000 copies, August 1939 | Original full cloth in vgc+ condition, with very slight (2mm) fraying to foot of front spine hinge, else light rubbing to extremities of spine and minimally to outer corners, which are slightly bumped. Blind-stamped titling to front board remains clear; gilt titling to spine still bright. All pages edges dyed deep blue, as issued. Traces of staining to closed bottom edge of page block, but no evidence to pages themselves. Ffep with a couple of inked page references to content in the book. Half-title page with inked name and address of former owner, and her separate blind stamp to foot of page. Short blue-inked astrological note to upper margin of p. 9 (first Contents page); longer one to lower margin of p. 216 (last index page). The main text contents are almost entirely free of markings – I checked them all and found only one blue-inked marginal bracket to p. 71, and one small blue-inked tick to p. 83. Occasional mild old creases across outer corners of a few leaves. Small (1mm) trace of indentation to bottom edges of leaves from pp. 137-140. No other faults found. The book remains strongly bound throughout. Overall, a very good copy of the third edition, with just a few interesting traces of its past study by a very eager student. |
