The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Please check back on Friday December 27th, when the shop will reopen and this notice will be removed.

C. Aq. Libra (Roelf Takens) – Astrology: Its Technics and Ethics 1917?

£75.00

Description

hb Libra C. Aq. Astrology: Its Technics and Ethics 1st or early P. Dz. Veen, Amersfoort (The Netherlands) 1917? £75 Author’s real name was Roelf Takens. Book was first published in Dutch before being translated into German and English. This translation by G. Coba. Copyrighted 1917. This may or may not be the first impression: various different cover designs were produced, without internal distinguishing marks. Original full cloth in near-fine condition, with gilt titling and elaborate star-shaped gilt zodiacal illustration within gilt border to front board still bright and strong; likewise gilt titling to spine. Plain-pencilled bookseller notes to front endpapers. No permanent markings found. Only fault is liquid-stain to upper-outer margins, starting minimally around p. 97 and increasing progressively by the end of the book: probably a coffee spill. It mainly crosses page numbers, but just touches text from p. 181 to 212 approx. and from pp. 255-7. Upper outer corners of the worse-affected pages slightly taut; otherwise, it’s just minor cosmetic damage to an otherwise excellent original example of this book. Condition factored into price
