The Astrolearn bookshop is temporarily closed for 14 days Friday December 13th to Thursday December 26th inclusive. This is because of the unreliability of the Christmas post and very high volumes of writing and editing work over this period. Belle Bart – Thru the Stars to Success 1923

£35.00

Description

hb Bart, Belle Thru the Stars to Success: Astrology Today 1st The Roycrofters, East Aurora, N.Y. 1923 £35 The first of two elementary astrology books by Bart published by The Roycrofters, the printing arm of an alternative community living project that was famous in its time. This title features a charming professional portrait photo of the author with a tissue guard, followed by 122 pages of text. All Roycrofters titles in their original bindings are highly collectible today. Original quarter-suede with raised gilt-printed title label to spine, connected to black paper-covered boards. The suede is in only fair or good- condition, with chipping of leather to top 8mm and bottom 6mm of spine, extending slightly to upper inner corners of boards where the leather covers them; and a 3 cm tear to top of rear spine hinge. The boards are solid but with heavy wear to the paper from all outer corners and the lower and upper extremities of the outer edges; light rubbing to the other edges, and print very faded from the front board. Rear inner paper hinge split, but webbing strong beneath. Binding also appears slightly strained between pp. 30-1; 46-7; [62]-3; 78-9, but cords holding for now. Chipping and long tear to outer margin of leaf comprising pp. 45-6, tear crossing over some text on both sides, which yet remains clear to read or deduce. Ffep with charming early owner’s blue-inked personal ownership notice (indicating the book was a gift from her aunt). No other permanent previous owner markings or other faults found. A rare book in any condition; the price factors in all faults.
