It is not known whether the first 5,000 copies were all printed in 1925 or whether 1925 is just the copyright date of the original printing and this printing was a year or two later Original card covers in fair condition, with stamped yellow sunburst illustration to front cover, as issued. Chipping to lower outer corners of both covers; slight chipping to upper outer corners, and to lower inner corner of front cover, top 6mm of spine, and bottom 6mm of front side of spine. 7 cm separation to top of front cover hinge, and 5 cm separation to foot of same. A few short tears to outer edges of covers. Tiny inked sum to front cover; faint inked note to upper margin of rear cover, alongside plain-pencilled price. Traces of minor staining to covers. Some edge-wear to title page and to outer edge of folding table that follows p. 242. Former owner’s red-pencilled underlining and marginal notes to p. 24. Small pieces of paper glued to outer margin of pp. 32, 80, [190]. 2 cm tear to outer edge of leaf comprising pp. 255-6. No other faults found. Price reflects all faults. A well-worn authentic original copy of an early impression of the first edition
