The original issue, with uncoated paper dust jacket bearing central illustration of an astrolabe on an orange background; not to be confused with a later reprint bearing a white glossy dust jacket with central illustration of deep space. Original full blue cloth with gilt illustration to front board and gilt titling to spine, in near-fine condition, with light sun-fading to extremities of spine, else fine. In very good original paper dj, which is very lightly chipped and worn to extremities of spine and of flap-folds; front flap-fold with 3 cm separation to its foot; traces of staining to spine and rear panel. Some plain-pencilled bookseller notes to front endpapers. Ffep with old printed inventory number label of former owner adhered to it. Traces of foxing to margins of pp. 44-5. No deliberate markings or other faults found. An excellent copy of the first edition, in lightly worn very good dust jacket
