The 1906 edition is only 316 pages. | Original full green vertically ribbed cloth in vgc- condition, with gilt titling to front board and spine still strong and bright; moderate fraying to cloth at spine ends and to three (of four) outer corners of boards; short 5mm tear to cloth at very top of rear spine hinge and tiny 3mm internal tear about an inch from the top of same, else only light rubbing along parts of spine hinges. Ffep with old hand-inked signature of former owner, dated 1915; front paste-down with another, smaller hand-inked signature that may be slightly later but still early. A few plain-pencilled bookseller notes to front endpapers. No permanent markings or other faults found. Overall, a very good, clean copy of arguably the best antiquarian edition of this important work by Leo. |
