booklet Muir, Ada Pluto: the Redeemer 2nd The Torch Publishing Co. 1939 £45 After the original edition of 1932. All editions before 1967 are rare Original small-format brown textured card covers in vgc, with light rubbing to foot of spine, areas of light scuffing and minor staining to front cover, and light scattered creasing to covers. Title page with tiny stain towards upper outer margin, which bears plain-pencilled bookseller note; lower margin with vintage Macoy Publishing distribution stamp; light wear and creasing to lower outer corner of title leaf. Author’s printed address label pasted above advertisement to foot of p. [6], and again to lower margin of penultimate page of advertisements, presumed as issued. The central double-leaf spread comprising pp. 27-30 has escaped from the staples but remains laid in at the right place. Ideally, staples should be removed and replaced with new ones that take in all the leaves. Some plain-pencilled mark-up (erasable) to pp. 6, 7, 9, 10, 16, 21-2, 24-8, 40, 43 and 50, and to penultimate page of advertisements at end. No permanent internal markings or other faults found. Overall, a good copy of this rare early edition that would be very good if the central double-leaf spread were reattached to the binding. Price factors in faults.
