About this Book Scan
Carefully scanned in full colour from the Astrological Association’s original separate printings of the issues for January-February 1940 and May-December 1940 (inclusive), complete with covers, together with our original printing of the individual separate issue for March-April 1940, complete with advertisements and rear cover and incorporating an added scan of the front cover of the equivalent issue owned by the Astrological Association (since the front cover for our issue was missing). These six issues collectively were dubbed Volume 37 of the New Series of Modern Astrology.
The year 1940 was the final year in which Modern Astrology appeared bimonthly, after moving to this schedule in 1933. It would continue as a quarterly in 1941 before folding.
Modern Astrology magazine was launched in August 1895 by Alan Leo and ran as a monthly until well after his death in 1917 before eventually settling into bimonthly publication in the 1930s.
It provides a mine of insight into the astrological community surrounding Alan and Bessie Leo and their associates and successors.
