About this Book Scan
Carefully scanned in full colour from our original printing of the 1903 first edition.
How to Judge a Nativity Part I was the third volume in Alan Leo’s series of seven Astrological Text-Books. The original edition of 1903 was sometimes bound with a pamphlet called Astrology Explained, as was the case with our source edition. Both are reproduced in our scan.
Later editions of How to Judge a Nativity Part I were renamed How to Judge a Nativity as a result of the editorial decision to change the name of the book first launched as How to Judge a Nativity Part II in 1904 to The Art of Synthesis. Curiously, the internal title page to the first edition of How to Judge a Nativity Part I also omits mention of Part I, although the front board of the volume includes it. This suggests that at the time of going to print, a decision had not yet been taken on the title of the following volume.
Also available from Astrolearn as separate downloads are our scans of the expanded second edition of 1908 of How to Judge a Nativity Part I and the first two editions of How to Judge a Nativity Part II.
