[1] A series of publications whose overall editor is not declared here. Two previous publications in the series, Nos. 6 and 10, also belonged to the sub-series “Arbeiten aus dem Institut für Geschichte der Naturwissenschaft” of which the present volume is the third issue
[2] Library records give 1927
[3] Library records give 1930
[3a] Said to have been a practising astrologer with a scholarly academic background
[3b] A study and textual edition of a large multi-panel painting (whose panels are individually framed in wood and hinged together) held at the Württembergisches Landesmuseum, Stuttgart, and dated to 1489. The painting includes elements of calendrical and astrological text as well as Ptolemaic planetary tables. The present volume includes numerous colour illustrations of component parts of the work
[4] First published in 1986
[5] Ibid.
[6] Ibid.
[7] A compendium of twenty topically themed selections in English from the Stobaeus, the Ascelpius, Books 1-14 and 16-18 of the Corpus Hermeticum, Hermetic fragments, and the Nag Hammadi Hermetic texts
[8] The original publication date is given as the same year
[9] The present work appears to be a compendium of essays by the author that were serialised in ‘The Theosophist’ magazine in October-December 1924, with the addition of a response (entitled “Theosophical Education in the Light of Astrology and Common Sense”) to an article (“Natura Non Facit Saltum”) that was published there in February 1918 (pp. 126-131). This might be an unofficial retyping by a reader of the magazine (possibly Campbell), or might be one of the author’s own copies of the typescripts he originally submitted to the magazine prior to publication. Quite a few small typographical errors have been corrected by hand, mostly in pencil, occasionally in pen
[9a] Copyrighted 1918, which is presumed the date of the original edition
[10] The advertising at the rear, however, suggests that this copy was bound in 1938 or 1939. The original edition is dated by the retained original foreword and by the DNB’s record to 1932
[11] Copyrighted 1954, with no further date printed; but the paper quality is much higher than those of typical printings of the decade, strongly suggesting that this copy is a considerably later reprint
[12] Notes indicate the extraction of the contents from two issues of Astrologische Monathefte, 3-4 and 5-6, 1959
[13] This bears the original printed imprint: Okkulter Buch-Verlag “Inveha”, Berlin W. 62, Kleist-Straße 6, but this has been pasted over with a label reading: Druck und Verlag: Bernhard Sporn, Buchdruckerei und Verlagsanstalt, Zeulenroda (Thür.). The reason for the change of publisher from one that did not match the publisher of the main volume is not apparent
[14] A series edited by Horst-Dieter Blume
[15] Appears to be a detailed technical look at calculation methods relating to the conception figure in ancient astrology. It refers to Ptolemy, Hephaistio, Censorinus, Antiochus, Porphyry, Proclus, Vettius Valens, and Rhetorius as sources
[16] Both copies are dated thus, but Copy B, which is internally unmarked, appears to be an undeclared later reprint
[17] Apparently custom-bound thus. The boards are finished in star-adorned purple paper and do not look like a typical publisher’s issue binding, though I have seen no other copies of this first printing with which to compare
