[2] This work contains numerous distinct reports on historical prophecies, not just ones concerning the year 1970
[3] The publisher is said to be led by a K. von Borbély, presumably a close relative of the author
[4] German library records agree with this date
[4a] A series of publications collectively edited at this time by Ingemar Düring and Harald Hagendahl, and published by the Institute for Classical Studies at the University of Gothenburg
[5] Stated as having been originally published in Hebrew in 1995 by the same publishers
[6] Teaches computer programming in BASIC with a view to astrological programming applications
[6a] The inner title page is formulated thus. The title to the front cover instead commences Tibetan Earth Lords, with the subtitle being unchanged
[7] A greatly expanded work compared with the original edition credited to the Erlewines and David Wilson, q. v. below
[7a] A print-on-demand publication, this copy printed November 2020
[7b] The text is continuous between pp. 6 and 8, the error lying in the pagination
[7c] A print-on-demand publication, this copy printed November 2020
[7d] A printed pagination error for the title page
[8] A detailed informative work on fixed stars and other distant astronomical structures and their spatial co-ordinates, with a view to their consideration for possible use in astrological analysis. Much of the work is purely astronomically descriptive, although some astrological pointers are suggested. In addition to the whole pages of tables indicated in the pagination scheme for this book, there are many inset tables within pages also containing some text
[9] This work is described by von Sebottendorf in his foreword as a reprint of a book first published in 1847 at Kern, Breslau, by an an unknown author. German library records (although not the DNB) list the original edition and identify its author as Benjamin Gottlob Ernst, which can reasonably be presumed to be based on solid research
[10] A collection of publications direted by Alain Segonds
[11] A French translation of the Italian original: “Tommaso Campanella. Il libro e il corpo della natura”, published by Laterza, Roma-Bari, 2002. It is a study of “the biographical and intellectual itinerary of Campanella” that aims to present “the genesis, development and constants of a few fundamental themes” of his thought. Included are chapters on many of Campanella’s writings, including those on astrology and celestial signs
[12] At this time, a lecturer in Renaissance Philosophy at the Roma Tre University
[13] At this time, a lecturer in the History of Renaissance Philosophy at the Warburg Institute, University of London
[14] A collection of seventeen studies by different scholars, including H. Darrel Rutkin, Giuseppe Bezza, Michele Rinaldi, Ornella Pompeo Faracovi, Elide Casali, Monica Azzolini, Hiro Hirai, Laurence Wuidar, Nicolas Weill-Parot, Marco Bertozzi, and Ernst
[14a] A collection of 15 Italian-language essays by 14 different scholars including two by Giglioni and one by Laurence Wuidar. They are divided into three themes: The magical universe between philosophical reflection and everyday life; Magic and witchcraft; and Representations of wizards and witches. Although the focus is not astrological, they are relevant as historical background to the intellectual climate in which astrology was found in the Renaissance
[14b] A series of publications collectively edited by Ralph P. Locke of Eastman School of Music
[15] Internally consists primarily of two separate essays by Ken Irving and Suitbert Ertel, each with its own pagination. Four appendices and an index account for the remaining separately paginated sections.
[15a] This first part of the volume is credited to Escobar; the remaining parts to Jones
[16] The author credits her astrology instructor Carl Leipert with the teaching of the material in this book. He reportedly encouraged her to share it on with many others. The Study Guide section appears on the yellow sheets at the beginning and appears to have been added to the second edition of the book
[17] After the Second Edition of 1972, with earlier reprints thereof in September 1972 and March 1973. The original edition was published in 1968, reportedly under the name “From My Notebook: Basic Astrology – Essentials of Natal Interpretation Parts One and Two” (or possibly as two separate books), and reprinted in October 1968 and September 1970
[17a] Appears sourced in the original 1968 edition (not held thus) of Escobar’s book From My Notebook: Basic Astrology – Essentials of Natal Interpretation Parts One and Two. References her book ‘Side Lights of Astrology’ (1960) as a source for the table of aspects included on leaf [47]
[18] A presentation of a system of chart rectification said to have been taught at the First Temple of Astrology, Los Angeles, by a Frank Gilbert in the 1930s and 1940s. The parts of the volume paginated k1-k34 are subtitled “The Streamlined Method” and said to have been developed by Escobar’s husband (i.e. J. Allen Jones Jr., q. v.). With separate title page to leaf following p. k34: “Names – How To Code Names By Sounds and Numerical Values – Thyrza Escobar”. The separately paginated work by Escobar that this announces appears to have been reproduced by photocopying from an earlier printed pamphlet
[19] The copyright date, however, is given as 1997
[20] There is dual pagination in this volume, with the upper margins representing the pagination in the original articles and the lower margins representing the equivalent in the finished volume. I have followed the lower pagination throughout; but the final set of four pages is paginated only at the top.
[21] A further note to title page beneath authors’ name adds: “The History of the Earth, from beginning to end, is written in The Chaldean Cycles. Study these cycles with past history and predict the future with precision”
[22] Four years after the death of Escobar in 1993. Thus, this work presumably survived in a typescript she left behind, which was then presented to the AFA for scanning and printing
