Astrolearn Bookshop: Terms and Conditions

1. Payment in full is required prior to the books being released for dispatch to you.
2. For countries served by the shop with automatic shipping cost calculations, acceptable payment options include bank transfer; credit / debit card via Woopayments; and (with effect from September 9th, 2024) Paypal.
3. For countries not served by the automatic store (see international shipping policy page), shipping costs will be manually calculated on request by email, and payment must be made by bank transfer.
4. You must provide a secure mailing address. Once packages from us have been delivered to the address you provided, we are not responsible for any subsequent theft or loss.
5. Books will be posted within two business weeks of receipt of payment at the latest, and normally within one business week of receipt of payment. We will advise you by email if it will take longer than a week in exceptional circumstances such as being away.
6. All books for sale are second-hand. Older books tend to exhibit signs of wear and prior use. We have inspected all books for sale and listed their salient condition points in their dedicated product pages within the shop. It is your responsibility to read and understand the edition and condition details to your satisfaction before purchase.
7. All sales are normally final. Please only complete purchase when you are sure you want the book or books ordered. Returns are not normally accepted unless books are received by the buyer significantly not as described.
8. We may at our sole discretion honour requests to cancel orders if the books have not yet been sent to the buyer, so long as the cost of shipping to the buyer has not yet been pre-paid by us online; but please be mindful of the time and materials it takes us to prepare orders for shipping, and only request cancellation if you must.
9. In the event of discretionary order cancellation, if payment was made via the payment provider Woopayments, we unfortunately cannot refund the credit card processing charges levied by Woopayments, as they are not returned to us when refunds are issued. The refund due on any payments made via Woopayments will therefore exclude the credit card processing charge already levied at the time of payment and any associated international exchange rate spread. This could be around 3%-5% of the total order value. Please bear this in mind before you order.
10. In the event of discretionary order cancellation, if payment instead was made by Paypal (a new option with effect from September 9th, 2024), a full refund including all charges may be possible provided that it is issued within the timeframe allowed for that by Paypal, but this will depend on Paypal’s policies.
11. Books will be carefully packed by us to withstand handling in transit.
12. In the unlikely event of loss or serious damage in transit, please contact us with evidence and details so that we may follow up any insurance claim.
13. On international orders, a customs declaration will be made by us to the value of the books sold, specifying the contents of the shipment as used books. We will not declare a lower valuation than the price paid.
14. If you purchase the books for shipping to an address outside the United Kingdom, you are solely responsible as the buyer for the payment of any taxes and customs clearance charges that may be levied by or on behalf of your national customs agency or equivalent authority.
15. If you decline to pay any customs charge or fail to collect your package, and the books are therefore returned to us by the shipping provider, we will not be responsible for refunding your shipping costs.
16. International shipping times vary, and could take up to 2-3 months to some countries. Delays in transit are not a cause for compensation or the cancellation of orders.
17. All international orders will be sent with tracking. The tracking numbers will be retained by us and provided to you for your reference.
