Originally published in 1819 | ASSOCIATION COPY. Original full deep blue cloth in near-fine condition, with tiniest trace of staining to lower outer corners of boards, else fine. Gilt titling to spine still strong and bright. In near-fine original dj, with minimal rubbing to extremities of spine and of flap-folds, 5mm closed tear to top edge of rear panel, and 2mm closed tear to bottom edge of same; minor coloured stains to upper margin of rear panel. This copy formerly owned by the late traditional astrology teacher and publisher Carol Ann Wiggers, with her blind-stamp bearing her initials, CAW, to the front flap of the dj, and to margins of the ffep, the title page, p. 19, p. 143, p. 231, p. 307 and p. 373; and a more luxurious gilt stamp of matching design to ffep. Tiny 1mm edge-tear to outer edge of leaf facing p. 1; tiny ink stain to upper outer margin of p. 10, but no deliberate markings or other faults found. [NB: blind stamps are just indentations with no print, so they do not spoil the pages!] An excellent association copy in a superb state of conservation, complete with the rarely surviving dj |
