hb Sepharial The Little Book of Magic 1st Foulsham & Co., 4 Pilgrim Street n.d. £225 The very rare true first edition of this sought-after Sepharial title, from 1898 Original dark green cloth with blind-stamped lettering and charming floral illustration and decorative bordering to front board. Spine hinges moderately rubbed; spine ends slightly frayed; outer corners of boards slightly bumped and worn. Tiny chip lost from outer edge of ffep. Old plain-pencilled price to title page. Contents complete and still properly bound. Binding strained but holding at joins between pp. 32-3 and 64-5. Some underlining, mostly plain-pencilled, but black-inked from pp. 58-64, 66-8 and 70-80, a few of which pages also have relevant old black-inked marginal annotations; and traces of pale red-pencilled at pp. 64-6 and 68-9. Still a good copy of the very rare first edition in its charming original binding.
