Library records suggest 1946 as having been the actual date of publication, with the delay presumed caused by the war. Original full olive green cloth in near-fine condition. Deep blue titling to front board and spine still strong and clear. In vgc- original dramatically colour-illustrated dj, which has a 1-inch tear top the top of its front spine hinge, partly crossing spine, and light chipping to extremities of spine hinges, plus slight chipping to some extremities of flap-folds, and moderate general edge-wear to top and bottom edges of front panel, including a few short tears to both these edges. Outer margin of ffep slightly rippled. A little faint plain-pencilled mark-up to early pages within, chiefly marginal brackets and occasional underlinings, petering out after p. 37 and could be erased if unwanted. No permanent markings or other faults found. Still a near-fine copy in near-very-good original dust jacket, which is rare in any condition and adds significant visual impact to the book
