hb Carter, Charles E. O. Symbolic Directions in Modern Astrology 1st W. Foulsham & Co. Ltd., 10 & 11 Red Lion Court [1929] £27.50 Undated in print, as issued. Date from deposit library records. ASSOCIATION COPY. Original blue cloth in good condition for its age, with 1 cm chip lost from front side of foot of spine, otherwise very good, with fraying to cloth at top 2mm of spine and light wear to cloth over lower outer corner of front board. Spine a little sun-faded, but the gilt titling upon it is intact. Blind-stamped titling and bordering to front board still strong. Both boards still a good, deep shade of blue. This copy with the small purple name stamp of notable numerologist Florence Evylinn Campbell to front paste-down. Ffep with one blue-inked page reference, and old plain-pencilled bookseller price. No permanent markings found to any printed pages. Traces of foxing to lower outer margins of pp. 26-7, and very occasionally elsewhere. Rear inner paper hinge with some signs of wear, but underlying joint still strong. Externally good, internally excellent. Overall, a near-very-good copy of the scarce first edition, which is much less common than the reprint of 1947.
