Yet there is no indication in the book itself that it is a new edition or separate dating for such, a clear failing on the part of the publisher. The only notice within is for the 1. Auflage of 1972. Library records show the true 1972 edition to have been 283 pages, whereas the 1978 one is 280. Since the revisions were carried out in Ring’s lifetime, it is presumed that the 1978 edition represented the final state of his thinking on the subject
