McBroom, Don ‘Midpoints: Identify and Integrate Midpoints into Horoscope Synthesis’ Llewellyn Publications, Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd., Woodbury, Minnesota, 2007
[1] The main part of this work consists of research into astrological influences upon the stock market. A lengthy theoretical discussion on cosmology and rhythm theory precedes this
[2] 80 of the illustrations from the Doré Bible are said to have been selected and reprinted in this volume
[3] The core of this book is a simple modern primer of natal astrology by Matthews, with the Doré illustrations on facing pages serving purely decorative roles, although there are some sections of text connected more directly with the Bible
[4] A selection by Matthews of 39 articles and numerous shorter pieces of content that were published in the Astrological Association Journal during these years, mostly but not all original to it (an exception is a reprinted article by Lynn Thorndike). Contributors include John Addey, Martin Harvey, Charles Carter, Dane Rudhyar, Michel Gauquelin, Brigadier Firebrace, Peter Roberts, Charles Harvey, Dennis Elwell, Joan Hodgson, Ingrid Lind, Joan Rodgers, Ronald Harvey, Chester Kemp, Roger Elliot, Patrick Harding, Jeff Mayo, Rudolf Tomaschek, Hans Genuit, and several lesser-known names. Still the only such anthology volume produced as of 2015, although evidently more were originally planned
[4a] From the original German edition Die Wahrsagekunst im Alten Orient. Zeichen des Himmels und der Erde, published by Verlag C. H. Beck, Munich, 2013
[5] According to library records, both the first and second editions were published in 1908 and of the same overall length. The preface retains the date of January 1908; and the author’s note to the third edition indicates that the second was published four months after the first. The author indicates the alteration of a few paragraphs in the present edition, “where it seemed desirable to bring forward new information”
[5a] A series of publications jointly edited at this time by Chia-Feng Chang, Michael Lackner, Klaus Herbers and Alexander Fidora
[5b] A collection of ten studies by ten different scholars, including the editors. The last study has to do with Tibetan astrology, among other subjects
[6] Pseud. of Maurice Petitjean
[7] Internal advertising indicates 1936-7
[7a] A series of publications published under the patronage of the Association Guillaume Budé
[7b] A scholarly edition with facing French translation of Maximus’ Περί Καταρχών, a short didactic poem on electional astrology surviving in a single medieval manuscript said to date from the 9th century. The authorship of the text is tentatively though inconclusively attributed by the editor of this edition to the fourth century Neoplatonist philosopher Maximus of Ephesus (or, in French, Maxime d’Éphèse)
[8] A recent facsimile reprint of the 1877 original, q. v. above
[9] The only library record found offers no date. Estimated 1950s, but this is uncertain. The fact that it is not a part of the Astrologische Universal Harmonien series could suggest that it is very early (late 1940s) for an astrological Baumgartner Verlag publication. However, it might have been published contemporaneously with the series but excluded from it because it’s at too basic a level, focusing as it does on Sun signs
[9a] After the original edition of 2010
[10] An undated paperback reprint of the 1912 original. Library records only offer estimates, and disagree, with one proposing ca. 1970 and another ca. 1975
[10a] After the original edition of 1965, second edition of 1972 and third (revised) edition of 1976
[10b] A completely different work from the author’s earlier ‘Teach Yourself Astrology’, this Arkana original runs to 368 main pages
